Workshop Activities LENT TERM 2010

Wk 2 – Vagina Monologues Postcards
Thie week we will be creating postcards inspired by the Vagina Monologues to help raise awareness of the up coming performance and raise money for local charities supporting domestic violence.

Wk 3 – Vagaina Monologues Banner and Crazy printing
Helping out again, we will be creating a giant banner for the Vagina Monologues to help them raise awareness in their fundraising efforts and to advertise on the night. More postcards will be available as well as crazy printing with hands, feet and wot else but potatoes!!!!!

Wk 4 – Portraits…..with a twist
Ok, so not many of you know the entire group, so we’ve decided to get you talking….. The aim of the workshop is to find the answers to a few crazy questions, draw one anothers portraits and incorporate your answers into your masterpieces.

Wk 5 – Musical Life Drawing
Life drawing….clothes on….music blasting….chairs  moving…..amazing artwork…. wot else do we need to say

Wk 6 – Landscapes
Armed with a bucket of arty goodies, you will be let loose round campus to create nature inspired collages and pictures.

Wk 7 – Sculptures
Instead of clay, coathangers! Theres even a competition for the strongest structure and of cors a prize!

Wk 8 – Green Lancaster Art Work
Creating the winning design for green lancaster with a few added touches…… Help support environmental schemes whilst having loads of fun.

Wk 9 – Husitngs and Mask Mayhem
Crunch time… 3min will be given to each candidate to explain why they would be simply the best Exec member followed by an epic mask making session and a night round the glorious bars on campus.

Wk 10 – Exec Positions Announced and Meal Out!
The last session with this years Exec….BooHoo! After announcing who will be on next years Exec team, we shll be treating you to a yummy discounted meal…. Yum Yum

Workstop Acitivites Michaelmas Term 09 

Week 1: Meet and Greet… write your name and draw things around or in it that represent you. We can then all get to know each other a little bit

Week 2: Giant Art… we need a banner to display if we ever do exhibitions so it’s time to get messy this week and create a giant Artsoc banner using all sorts of materials… make sure you wear something that you don’t mind getting a bit messy

Week 3: Pop Art… this week bring in a photo or picture and transform it into your very own pop art. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own picture, we will supply some if people need them

Week 4: Life Drawing… this will be our first life drawing session of the new uni year. Please be aware life drawing is on WEDNESDAY instead of Thursday as we can’t get the room any other day. Life drawing will take place in the art life drawing (Bowland annexe… first door on your right). Doors will shut promptly at 6:00pm and you will not be able to get in after this so please be there early.

Week 5: Green Lancaster… week 5 will see the launch of our competition to design the collage we will produce as our Green Lancaster Project in Lent term. The design should be centred around the topic of life at Lancaster and be able to be reproduced as a collage made from recyclable materials such as bottle tops, ring pulls, cans, cardboard and newspaper. We will take the final designs in, in the meeting in week 6 and will they will be judged by Green Lancaster and the exec. The winner will have their design transformed into a collage by the members of the society and the finished piece will be displayed in uni as well as receiving a good bag of art equipment donated by our sponsor Studio Art.

Week 6: Landscapes… and what fun we will have . The exec are going to take lots of pictures at uni and around the city so there will be plenty to choose from but if you want to take your own

Week 7: Meet an Artist… the artist Catriona will be coming in to do a workshop with us. She has done everything from painting landscapes to painting coffins and digital printing. pictures please feel free to.

Week 8: Sculptures… We are hoping to do some sculpting work using clay this week. Again, this could be a messy one so please make sure you wear clothes that you aren’t too fussed about or bring something to cover them with.

Week 9: WED – Life drawing… another life drawing session again… please see week 4 for details

THURS – XMAS PARTY….woo hoo

Week 10: no workshop this week due to deadlines and the exec being full of christmas cheer
